The 2nd-3rd of July 2011

This last weekend I headed out with the guys to beautiful Driggs, Idaho. We rolled in on a Friday evening and sat up the ramps at the venue. Our riders on this trip were Jason Johnson, Jonsey, John, and Josh Hult. The 4 Js’. Josh rolled in the next day with his family and the RV. After setup, we relaxed at the Driggs Skatepark and then headed to the creamery downtown.

After taking a quick dip in the lodge spa, we were off to bed. I really like staying in hotels with John. He would much rather be home, probably because it’s a novelty for me and old for him. It feels like vacation for me, but John keeps reminding me he’s at work.
In the morning we hit up the lodge “Breakfast” downstairs. Not much of a breakfast with the only one type of cold cereal and some dry pastries. The other guys talked John into stopping by the local Subway for some breakfast sandwiches. Then we headed out to the venue to do shows.
Our rig and ramps were set up on this cliff like space that kind of reminded me of The Lion King’s cliff where he holds his baby lion up at the end of the movie. While the guys were warming up, I was watching the airplane guys practice for the air show all from the comfort of the front seat of the truck overlooking the valley they were flying through. It was amazing how high and fast the airplanes went.

The first BMX show of the day had soooo many people at it. It really was such a hit with the people. As soon as it was over, I headed out to visit all the booths and watch other shows going on. The “Jump” show with these trick dogs was one of my favorites. I stuffed myself with fair food, including a Snowie, and sun burnt my arms and feet as much as I could. At the end of the day, I was exhausted. John wanted to get home, so even though we had the lodge for another night, we made the journey back to Provo.
